A plea for more volunteers to come forward to help with community events in Tenby proved to be a helpful exercise, a councillor said this week.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown said that one volunteer came forward after reading the article in the Observer and worked the Sunday night at Tenby Blues Festival held at the De Valence Pavilion.
“It was a baptism of fire for him, but it’s great that we asked for volunteers, and we got one!” she told her colleagues.
Clr. Mrs. Brown said that the Blues Festival had given the venue a busy week, and that the De Valence was next hosting the Hunt Ball, before a ‘family night’ takes place on December 3, as part of the Christmas festivities programme in Tenby.
The Mayor, Clr. Laurence Blackhall, praised the work that Clr. Mrs. Brown and her colleagues put in at the De Valence, stating that she must have completed at least 70 hours work if not more over the past week.
“The success of the venue has allowed us to put new LED lighting in place, to give us a long term saving, replace the alarm system, and redecorate the venue, so I propose a thanks to Clr. Mrs. Brown and her volunteers who have made it all possible,” he continued.
