The Co-operative's West Wales Area Committee has confirmed support to the tune of £750 for the forthcoming 'Come and Sing' event being hosted by Voices of Pembroke, Lleisiau Penfro tomorrow (Saturday).
The performance of choral music at Pennar Community Church will raise money for Stackpole Walled Gardens, which is affiliated to Mencap, but does not receive funding support from the charity.
Marshall Greer, chair of The Co-operative's West Wales Area Committee, said: "This event is a great example of a community coming together to enjoy music while making money for a very worthwhile charity too.
"Mencap is our Charity of the Year at the moment, which makes support for an affiliated charity all the more relevant."
Debbie Drewett, from Mencap Gardens on the Stackpole Estate, said: "While we are affiliated to Mencap, the charity is not a source of funding for us, so any additional support made possible through fundraising events such as this 'Come and Sing' evening makes a valuable contribution to the work we do with people with learning difficulties."
The event will take place on tomorrow at 7 pm. Tickets are available in the form of a programme for the evening and are £5 each. They can be bought from the Britannia branch on Dimond Street, Pembroke Dock.
