Following the sell-out success of last week’s concert featuring Canadian quartet Gordie MacKeeman and his Rhythm Boys, Burnett’s Hill Chapel in Martletwy next week welcomes another top musical act from across the Atlantic.

One of Cerys Matthews’s favourite bands, Sheesham and Lotus and Son perform the American ragtime music and good-time songs of the 1920s and earlier on an eye-catching assortment of instruments.

Noted for their entertaining shows and highly original presentation, the trio have created a sonic and visual language that is very much their own, utilising instruments of their own creation such as the Sepia-phonic Monophone, and the Contrabass HarmoniPhoneum.

Such inventions have been instrumental in building a show that is vividly antique in both sight and sound, and should be perfectly suited to the unique setting of the 200-year-old chapel at Burnett’s Hill.

Tickets for the concert, on Thursday, September 3, at 7.30 pm, are available from Main Street Music, Pembroke, or from 01646 651725.
