With the popular series about life on the Tenby waterfront ‘The Harbour’ being screened nationwide, a town councillor has said that it would provide a boost for the resort with viewers looking to book to visit the town.

One of the most-watched series to be screened on ITV Wales in recent years, The Harbour, made by Welsh independent producer Slam Media, is currently being shown in a four-week run on the main ITV channel, on Monday nights at 8 pm.

Filmed through the seasons, the series follows the characters who have made Tenby their home and who work on the harbour.

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting, Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter told her fellow members that it was great to see the programme being screened nationwide, but she disagreed with an article in the Daily Mail that said that it was the wrong time to screen it after the half-term holidays.

“It was just as enjoyable to watch again and will benefit Tenby for those that want to book all year round,” she said, with the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane agreeing that it would give viewers the idea for booking the resort for next summer.

“It’s a shame though that they used a different narrator as it would have been nice to keep local boy Charles Dale who did the original run,” added Clr. Mrs. Rossiter.
