The online JustGiving page has been set up by Kilgetty resident Sharron Stokieshazer Hardwick with the aim of raising £1,000 to fund the running costs of the Tuk Tuk Time Rainbow Delivery Squad - including insurance and PPE as they operate their free delivery service in the area to help during the Coronavirus lockdown.
“Tuk Tuk Time have stepped up for their local community to provide a vital shopping and delivery service. They and their volunteer helpers are doing all of this for free,” explained Sharron who is a football coach for Kilgetty AFC.
‘Please show your support by making a donation, no matter how small, to help keep this fantastic, vital service going. Together we can make a difference,” she continued.
The family run Tuk Tuk Time business was set up last June to run taxi services, local tours and wedding and events transport, but since the COVID-19 crisis, the firm’s vehicles have taken on a new role as a delivery service, teaming up with local businesses to bring groceries, provisions, pet food, newspapers, prescriptions and takeaways direct to people’s doors.
Husband and wife Tony and Lorraine and Niederlag, run the company with her brother Paul Jones from their caravan park at The Buttles in Begelly.
“We are so delighted with all of the support we’re receiving day in and day out, so thank you for your continued well-wishes - it means so much,” they said.
“A wonderful Kilgetty resident of over 17 years, Sharron Hardwick, has very kindly set up a JustGiving donation page so that we might continue to support with deliveries of essentials during these difficult days. Diolch seems way too small a word for such big hearts out there!
“We’re always on the lookout for new drivers, so please spread the word folks!
We need enthusiastic, spirited people to join our team. A massive part of the service we deliver is warmth and support during what is a very isolating time for many of us.
“Whilst we strictly observe the important rules of social distancing, there are no rules against a polite, helpful phone manner, a moment or two to chat, a helping (virtual) hand and a willingness of all our Squad members to go above and beyond the call of duty. Message us if you’d like to get involved.”
Residents can contact the Rainbow Delivery Squad on [email protected] or by ‘phoning 01834 813333. The service is available daily between 8 am and 8 pm.
