Tributes have been paid to one of Pembrokeshire’s best known farming and agricultural correspondents.
Meyrick Brown, who contributed his own ‘Straws in the Wind’ column to the Observer, sadly passed away this week.
“Meyrick made a huge contribution to journalism, especially within the rural and agri world,” said Mike Davies, Board chairman, of the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society Ltd.
“He has covered the annual County Show, and wider Society work for many many years, using his extensive knowledge of the industry.
“Respected by judges, exhibitors and farmers across the UK, his skills will be missed,” he added.
Mr. Brown was awarded the Farmers’ Union of Wales ‘Agricultural Journalist of the Year’ award back in 2009.
• Meyrick had already contributed his regular weekly column to us for this week’s issue before his untimely passing and we have included it as a tribute to him. RIP Meyrick.
