What’s the best way to spend your birthday? For Tori Hayes, it was cooking breakfast for over 70 people. Smiling through it all, she battled with the largest clutch of eggs and a mound of bacon and sausages.

Clive Webb – dad - was sous-chef, not the best at this job but excellent at sink diving. In charge of teas and coffees was Maureen Webb.

The morning event was very well supported and thanks to all present, the sum of £642 was raised for Prostate Cymru. Thanks must also go to Gurnot, Anne B., Dorothy D., Joy, Mary and Denis.

The charity has no national or government funding and relies on the kindness and generosity of its fundraisers and volunteers to fulfil its core aims:

Raising awareness about prostate cancer and prostate diseases, educating men of Wales about the diseases and their risk. Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 Welsh men and the risk increases to 1 in 3 if there is a family history of the disease. Our awareness team provide free of charge workplace awareness sessions and talks to other groups.

Supporting treatments and improving equipment for prostate diseases. To date we have supported Green Light Laser treatment for benign prostate disease and funded the training of surgeons using the Da Vinci robot for minimally invasive prostate cancer surgery. Funding research and innovation across Wales to ensure that men of Wales suffering with prostate diseases will have access to the best available treatments from the NHS in Wales. Grants will be awarded by our committee of key Welsh urologists.

If any group, be it male or female groups – would like to avail themselves of an awareness session, please phone Ruth Webb on 01834 843504.
