The nominations for the 2018 Wales Theatre Awards were revealed this week at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.
The Wales Theatre Awards celebrate and recognise excellence in opera, dance and theatre in Wales and the role of critics reviewing in both English and Welsh for print and online. Nominations were made by more than 40 critics throughout Wales.
Milford Haven’s Torch Theatre Company are one of the nominees for ’Best Ensemble’ award, for their Autumn 2017 production of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.
This production, marking forty years of the Torch Theatre Company, received widespread acclaim.
In his review writing for Theatre in Wales, Tim Barrett commented: “It is hugely satisfying seeing such a large cast on stage and there is just so much to see and enjoy in this performance one viewing is never going to be enough.”
This Spring, the Torch Theatre Company are bringing not one but two productions to the stage. The Wood - a new play from the director and writer of Grav, written to mark the centenary year of the end of the First World War.
The Wood can be seen at the Torch from Tuesday, February 20 to Thursday, March 1, before embarking on a thirteen-date tour of West and South Wales.
The award-winning Grav by Owen Thomas – the Ray Gravell story - then returns for a short tour of Welsh venues including two dates at the Torch Theatre (March 16 and 17) prior to two dates in New York.
The Awards Show takes place at The Riverfront, Newport on Saturday, January 27 and tickets are now on sale.
