Rebecca Evans AM, Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, has welcomed the news that financial support from the Labour Welsh Government has allowed Genpower to expand its operations, and as a result is set to create up to 35 new jobs in the Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone. The property investment by Genpower, backed by a repayable business finance loan from the Welsh Government, enabled the company to move to the former Cambrian Windows site in London Road, Pembroke Dock, which closed last year. The company currently employs 22 people and the expansion will safeguard eight jobs while the new jobs will be created over the next two years. Genpower has also previously been supported by funding from Finance Wales. Mrs. Evans said: "This is welcome news indeed. "The financial support from the Welsh Government has allowed Genpower to stay in Pembrokeshire, safeguarding current jobs. It also allows Genpower to expand to create up to 35 much-needed new jobs in Pembroke Dock. "This simply could not have happened without the backing of the Welsh Government. It is a vote of confidence in the company and the workforce." Genpower has the sole UK and Ireland distribution rights to sell Hyundai power products such as energy efficient portable generators, water pumps and air compressors to its growing dealer network. The need to move to larger premises was essential when Genpower was also awarded a similar exclusive agreement to sell Hyundai garden products and Power tools.
