The monthly meeting of the East Williamston Community and Hall Association was held recently with the agenda including the finances and other aspects relating to hall and Jubilee Park management, all of which was considered positive.
One unfortunate note was struck however when it was noted that the level of dog fouling in the Jubilee Park continued to be a significant problem.
Signs remind dog-walkers that they must clear up after their pooches and that failure to do so can lead to fines.
It is sad that a small selfish, number will put the cleanliness of the Park and the health of those walking there at risk.
The Community Hall continues to be used by a number of different organisations including Socatots and a Yoga group. In addition there is a monthly quiz and the finances of the hall are looking fairly strong.
The quiz is very friendly and the next dates are April 13 and May 11.
The poor weather through the early part of the year has meant that the Friends of Jubilee Park have not been able to carry out their usual maintenance work, but as the Spring weather starts they hope to have regular meetings and always welcome new volunteers for a couple of hours each month.
The Spring weather has also revived the work of those who have allotments in East Williamston and if anyone wants to start ‘growing their own’ there are two allotments currently available to let.
Those interested should contact Kathy on 01834 811142 and no doubt there will be plenty of advice from the other friendly allotmenteers for any novices!
Everyone is invited to the annual general meeting of the association which will be held on Saturday, April 6, starting at 6 pm and the bar will be open after the meeting so that those attending can enjoy an informal chat about what the Association can do for the wider community.
