Last Monday at Augustus Place Hall, participants got ready for the coffee morning, and had some early visitors from the Avenue Centre – everyone enjoyed to chance to catch up with each other. Games were dug out of the cupboard, with Jenga and Kerplunk being hits. Regular coffee morning guests came, and were duly looked after. An ex-participant now living in Droitwich joined in virtually, and was also warmly welcomed. He stayed for the First Aid training in the afternoon!

After the raffle was called, and beans or scrambled egg on toast was cooked and eaten, Mike Maynard the First Aid trainer had arrived, so everyone prepared to learn what to do in an emergency. Mike showed how he has an emergency phone number set up on his phone, what to do if someone faints or is unconscious or is having trouble with their heart. Everyone practised the recovery position, and learnt what to do if someone was choking. Then everyone practised with a special vest on a Resusci Annie manikin – you have to squeeze really hard to get the blockage out!

After getting certificates and clearing up, there was time for a final quick game before it was time to head for home.
