Over the past five weeks, Tenby has been fortunate enough to have had an exhibition of the works of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. The RI in Wales/Yr RI yng Nghymru, the first RI show in Wales since 2002, has been on display at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery and as well as featuring works by well-known watercolorists, the show also featured two watercolours by HRH the Prince of Wales. The artists who submitted works to the exhibition were: Colin Allbrook, Lillias August, Paul Banning, Charles Bone, Ian Cook, Roger Dellar, Anna Dudley Neill, Pauline Fazakerley, Chris Forsey, Robin Hazlewood, Tony Hunt, Moira Huntly, Colin Kent, Ronald Maddox, Anne McCormack, David Parfitt, Richard J. Plincke, David Poxon, Harry Price, Sue Read, Jean Robinson, Bob Rudd, Rosa Sepple, Ian Sidaway, Janet Skea, Naomi Tydeman, Deborah Walker, Sandra Walker, Andy Wood. All the visitors to the gallery have unanimously appreciated the exhibition. Comments in a visitor's book placed in the gallery bear testament to this. Superlatives to describe the exhibition range from 'inspiring,' 'mind broadening, wonderful' through to 'a high quality and diverse exhibition' and 'true masters of a difficult medium.' Tenby Museum's honorary curator Neil Westerman said of the exhibition: "We are proud to have been able to have shown such a wonderful show from such a noteworthy institution. All of the art has been of such a high standard and it would be lovely to work with the RI again sometime in the future. The museum has worked hard to build an excellent reputation in the art world and an exhibition such as this one only helps to seal this growing reputation." Andy Wood, president of the RI, stated: "I just want to say what a joy it was to return to Tenby and rediscover it's unique beauty. It is a delightful town in a lovely part of the world and your excellent, superbly situated museum is the icing on the cake. But a place is much more than its location, beaches and buildings, it is the people that inhabit it that make it special and every where I went I was made to feel welcome and at home. I wish I could have stayed longer." The exhibition runs until Sunday, August 17. The next exhibition at the museum is New Work/Gwaith Newydd, a joint show by father and son artists Aneurin and Meirion Jones, which is to be officially opened by sculptor David Petersen on Friday, August 22, and is open to the public from Saturday, August 23, until Sunday, October 6.
