Pembroke Castle have just announced the line-up for the first night of their 2018 Rock The Castle weekend. The World Famous Elvis Show will headline the first night of the weekend on Friday, June 15.
The World Famous Elvis Show stars and is produced by world-renowned Elvis performer, Chris Connor, who burst onto the UK Elvis scene in 2009, and within a year was performing at the Manchester Apollo and Harrogate International Centre backed by Elvis’ original back-up singers, The Sweet Inspirations.
In 2013, Chris Connor became the only Elvis Tribute to perform a full Elvis show at the London Palladium, and was voted by the first ever world-wide Elvis Presley fan poll as The Greatest Elvis Tribute in the World. Since then Chris and his band have toured the world to plaudits from fans of the King wherever they perform.
Now they are bringing the show to Pembrokeshire for the first time and it is set to be a stunning night out. Chris’s authentic look and sound is combined with 12-piece band The Steels, re-creating the biggest hits from the biggest rock and roll star the world has ever known. Chris Connor said, ‘I am looking forward to bringing The World Famous Elvis Show to Pembrokeshire! I have performed many an outdoor concert but never in castle grounds, which is very fitting for a "King”.’
In addition to Chris and his band, support will come from The Bluejays, a four-piece band who offer the finest vintage rock’n’roll experience. Playing the hits of Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, The Everly Brothers, Gene Vincent, Little Richard, and many more.
Formed in 2013 after years of performing together in West End theatre shows such as Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, Million Dollar Quartet, Dreamboats & Petticoats, and Return To The Forbidden Planet, The Bluejays have performed all over the world, and are the winners of The National Vintage Award for Best Vintage Entertainment and The London Vintage Award for Best Vintage Band.
Castle Manager, Jon Williams, commented, ‘We’re now in our fifth year of Rock The Castle and we have had many amazing tribute acts over the years but I think that this show will be something special. There are a lot of good Elvis tribute acts out there but what Chris and his band have achieved is unique and we can’t wait to see how our Rock The Castle audience reacts to the King being in the castle’.
Tickets are £19.50 each, and will go on-sale on Friday, November 24. Tickets will be available from Pembroke Castle Gift Shop, which is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm, by calling the castle ticket line on 01646 681510, and online at http://www.pembrokecastle.co.uk/ where you can also find all of the event details and information you will need.
Last year’s Rock the Castle saw thousands enjoy live music from The Fratellis, Toploader, The Bootleg Beatles and Horrible Histories live, and previous years have included performances from Jools Holland, Jamie Lawson, Only Men Aloud, Abba Revival, Killer Queen and The Counterfeit Stones.
