The pupils of Lamphey School have been treated to an ice cream extravaganza when award-winning Pembrokeshire ice cream company Upton Farm challenged them to design a new ice cream.
Armed with popping candy, chocolate twirls and millions of hundreds and thousands, the children set about decorating their ice cream creations under the watchful gaze of head judge and owner of Upton Farm, Richard Francis.
Then came another surprise, as Richard's son, Charlie Harry Francis, froze their creations instantly using liquid nitrogen. Charlie is the owner of experimental ice cream company 'Lick Me I'm Delicious' and he wowed the children with his demonstration as their ice cream creations were frozen right in front of their eyes.
Charlie, a past pupil at the school, said: "It was fantastic to be back at my amazing school, the kids were great fun. I hope they enjoyed it and didn't eat too much ice cream!"
Richard, a past member of the governing board, added: "The children designed some brilliant creations, but in the end, the winner had to be the child who managed to balance half a tonne of sprinkles on top of their ice cream."
The children all had a fantastic time and they learnt all about the science behind ice cream making and, more importantly, ice cream eating.
