Sir
Could I please, through your Letters page, thank a number of talented and entertaining local folk who contributed to a very successful evening of Performance Poetry, Presentations, Storytelling, Comedy, Music and enthralling ‘Chit-Chat’ in Tenby recently.
‘An Evening of Mindless Drivel’ devised and presented by published Tenby authors Nicky Lloyd and Lance Russell brought together a most eclectic mix of the entertainment arts all in the name of highlighting the talent that we are blessed to be able to count amongst our numbers here in our beautiful town of Tenby.
I would like to thank Mick Brown for a fascinating and personable presentation and slide show about Polar Bears that has, according to much feedback, been very well received. Thanks go to Ross Llewellyn for his amusing stories and a taster and insight to his forthcoming, soon to be published, memoirs ‘Amongst All Blacks’ that will, I am sure, feature prominently on many a bookshelf in the near future.
Big thanks go to professional storyteller and all round captivating orator Phil Okwedy, who placed himself right in amongst the audience, unaided by amplified sound, and enthralled everyone with his amazing stories.
Where would the Tenby live music scene be without the wonderful talent that is Richie and Arleen Westmacott who delivered a couple of terrific sets that had something for everyone.
Top of the Bill, the inimitable Mr. Laurie Dale, proved yet again that he truly is ‘Mr Entertainment’ with his set rich in classic ‘Crooners’ numbers and fascinating stories about his life, one of which led seamlessly into a fabulous sing-along, audience participative, acapella version of ‘If I was a rich man’ from ‘Fiddler on the Roof’. Just magnificent.
I would also like to thank my co-conspirator, Mr. Lance Russell, for his comedic recollections from what will be his next publication after the success of his first published works, ‘The Encyclopedia Man’, which has, in hard copy form, sold out, but which is still available through Kindle. Lance and I share a passion for bringing such literary and musical variety and humour to our beloved town.
Finally, a massive thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and who came with an open mind, a smile and a polite respect for each artist’s performance.
Bless you all.
Nicky Lloyd,
Tenby.
