It’s nearly time again for the 2020 TenFoot Charitable Fun Weekend, supported once again by main sponsor FBM Holidays.

Now in its fourth year the TenFoot weekend returns with three events again this year - the TenFoot Swim, the TenFoot Swim/Run and the FootStep Run.

In 2019 over 300 runners of all ages took part in the FootStep Charity Fun Run from Saundersfoot to Stepaside, whilst over 300 swimmers braved the 5k TenFoot sea swim and 10k TenFoot Swim/Run from Tenby to Saundersfoot.

To date, the events have raised over £55,000 for nominated Charities and local supporting services, including The RNLI, Tenby Surf Link, Saundersfoot and Tenby’s Sailing Clubs and Pembrokeshire Paddlers, whose services to the community and contribution to the events are invaluable.

All proceeds from the 2020 events will be distributed amongst nominated charities and local supporting services, and the committee are this year proud to announce that the benefitting charities will be Guide Dogs For The Blind, The Motor Neurone Disease Association and Get The Boys A Lift as well as RNLI, Tenby Surf Link, Pembrokeshire Paddlers, Saundersfoot and Tenby Sailing Clubs for their help volunteering in keeping the swimmers and competitors safe.

Taking advantage of Pembrokeshire’s natural coastline which lends itself to these events with incomparable scenery and unparalleled community support from the people of Tenby and Saundersfoot, the weekend fun begins in Saundersfoot on the evening of Friday, July 10, with the family ‘Fancy Dress’ FootStep Fun Run.

Competitors, both young and old, will start on The Strand and have the option of 1, 3 and 5 mile closed road distances, taking in the sights of Coppet Hall, The Old Railway Tunnels, Wisemans Bridge and Stepaside Heritage Park.

Entry is open and costs £10 for adults and £5 for Under 14’s to take part, visit www.tenfootswim.co.uk to enter.

The following day, Saturday, July 11 will see the TenFoot Swim and the TenFoot Swim/Run.

The TenFoot swimmers follow the stunning coastline from North Beach, Tenby through the gap at Monkstone Point then on to the finish on Saundersfoot Beach.

The TenFoot swim/runners follow a unique route which incorporates the stunning beaches between Tenby and Saundersfoot.

Access to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path as well as private land has kindly been granted for one off access for the event crossing Waterwynch, Hean Castle Estate, Trevayne Farm Caravan Park, Swallow Tree Woods, Glen Beach and Saundersfoot Harbour.

Entry is open and costs £50 for the TenFoot Swim and £60 for the TenFoot Swim/Run, and the first 300 entrants will get their name on the finishers t-shirt.

There are limited spaces left so visit www.tenfootswim.co.uk now to enter.

To round off the weekend the local pubs in support of the TenFoot Weekend are putting on live entertainment to replicate the amazing atmosphere created last year, with over £900 raised from the raffle.

Darren Edwards, affectionately known as Daz, is making a welcome return on the evening of Saturday, July 11 outside the Hawbr Bar, Saundersfoot after an amazing crowd-pleasing performance in 2019.

Daz is giving his time free of charge with proceeds from raffle sales going to Velindre Hospital Cancer Unit. Many thanks also to Karen of the Gower Hotel, Saundersfoot who provides accommodation for the TenFoot weekend for Daz.

With the help once again of all the sponsors, including main sponsor FBM Holidays, the committee feels that 2020 is going to be the best year ever for the TenFoot event weekend.
