A group of volunteers from Tenby who have been working together to aid vulnerable people during the pandemic, signed off with their last delivery on the weekend.
The ‘Together Stronger’ team that has been praised by the town’s Mayor, set about collecting boxes of food for vulnerable people and those shielding in Tenby and across the county at the start of the lockdown back in March.
Led by local Julie Wickland, the team received a special scroll sent on behalf of Tenby town council this week.
“On behalf of the town council and the people of Tenby, may I extend my thanks to Julie and the team for the fabulous support given to the people of Tenby during the Coronavirus pandemic - your support has been greatly appreciated by the community,” said Tenby Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Samantha Skyrme-Blackhall.
“We did our last delivery on the weekend and ended on a high with everyone having four different packs each of fresh meat,” said Julie, who in turn thanked her ’team’ once again - Nicola Coates, Mavis Brown, Majella Thomas, Sara Fecci, Anne Hughes, along with everyone else who has supported the project.
“Without you all it would not have happened - the team effort that has gone into this has been brilliant, and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone that has been so generous with donations of food, toiletries etc, and also to those that have been sending money from all over Pembrokeshire and England,” continued Julie, who wanted to say a special thank you to the following businesses that have been so generous, and made the project a fantastic success:
Norton Farm potatoes; Prendergast butcher’s Haverfordwest; Tenby post office; Paddock bakery Penally; Eileen’s post office Merlin’s bridge; Tesco Haverfordwest; Tesco Pembroke Dock; Asda Pembroke Dock; Morrison’s Haverfordwest; Co-op at Fishguard; Co-op at Tenby; Co-op at Kilgetty; Sainsbury’s Tenby; Princes Gate water Narbeth; Four Seasons farm shop; Tan y Castell Narbeth; PMS Cars Haverfordwest.
