The ITV network version of ITV Wales’ factual series The Harbour got off to an impressive start, launching with 3.6m viewers and a 17 per cent share across ITV in Monday’s 8 pm slot.
It is the second biggest half-hour programme in that slot this year, up on the year to date slot average by +0.5m viewers and +2 share points. It was the 10th most watched television programme across all of UK terrestrial television on Monday night in a list including Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Eastenders.
The Harbour follows a group of people living and working on the Tenby waterfront throughout the seasons. With great characters and stunning camerawork, it attracted a 23% share of the audience when originally shown on ITV Wales in 2016.
Jonathan Hill, ITV Wales’ editor of English language programmes, has been working with Cardiff independent production company Slam Media and London commissioner Tom Giles to reversion the original six- part series shown on ITV Wales into this four-part series for the network.
Phil Henfrey, head of news and programmes at ITV Cymru Wales, said: “It’s been a terrific creative and commercial partnership between ITV Wales, Slam and the ITV Network and it further demonstrates to ITV commissioners just what Wales has to offer audiences across the UK."
