The Mayor of Tenby has enjoyed a busy festive period, both in the town and across the waters!

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby town council, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane once again praised the Christmas celebrations in the town with Santa arriving in style via lifeboat to turn on the Christmas lights on December 1.

“The Christmas festivities in Tudor Square were once again superb and I would personally like to thank all the emergency services involved - the RNLI lifeboat crew, coastguards and firefighters. It is very emotional to see all the families come out to join in with the event,” she told her colleagues.

During December, Clr. Mrs. Lane travelled to New York where she was able to meet up with one of the town’s ‘true ambassadors’ actor Charles Dale, who is appearing in award-winning play The Ferryman on Broadway.

Whilst there she also attended a special end of year celebration hosted by the ‘New York Welsh Group’ who celebrate Welsh success stories in the city while inspiring the creation of new ones.

“As well as it being a fantastic night and a lovely way to celebrate Christmas, it was also a great opportunity for networking and very beneficial to Tenby.

“On the night I returned, I headed to the Rotary dinner at the Fourcroft, and then on Christmas Eve, myself and Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter visited the residential care homes across the town.

“Then it was another great Boxing Day Swim, with good weather, and record-breaking entries, before topping off the year with the fantastic New Year’s Eve celebrations in Tudor Square,” she added, before joking that she would next be heading to ‘AA’ to recover from a busy festive period.
