Racers revved up and ready for Tenby’s first ever Soapbox Derby will have to keep their carts covered ‘til later in the year as the race has been postponed.

The charity event which has been organised by Tenby Round Table was set to see some creative carts take to High Street and Tudor square from from 12 noon on Sunday, with a road closure to be put in place from 9 am to 5 pm.

However, a number of factors have seen Round Tablers take the late decision to delay the race to a date yet to be announced.

“Unfortunately we’ve had to make the decision to postpone the Soapbox Derby until later in the year,” said Ed Spence of Tenby Round Table.

“There were a number of issues but uncertain weather and problems with securing barriers and medical support means we don’t think it’s wise to hold the event this Sunday,” he explained.
