The Deputy Mayoress of Tenby, Saffron Evans has put her name forward for the Youth Parliament of Wales as a representative of the Girl Guide Movement.

The Youth Parliament is made up of 60 Young People drawn from across Wales, with 40 elected from Welsh Parliamentary Constituency Areas and a further 20 drawn from young peoples organisations in Wales.

Saffron, known as Saffy, is one of five Guides across Wales bidding for a place in the Parliament.

“The Youth Parliament is an important way of making sure that the views of Children and Young People are heard,” said Saffy.

“I want to be able to listen to Children and Young People and be their voice in the Youth Parliament of Wales.”

Saffy, who is in her second year as Deputy Mayoress, with her mother Clr. Mrs. Tracey Evans serving as Deputy Mayor.

Wishing Saffy good luck for her campaign, the Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sam Skyrme-Blackhall said: “In Tenby we are just embarking on improving the way we communicate with, and listen to Children and Young People.

“We can learn a lot from the work of the Welsh Youth Parliament and I wish Saffy well.”
