Members of Tenby Youth Club took part in a litter pick on Freshwater West beach recently as part of their learning about the importance of the environment.
The collected items will be recycled into art and the centre will be linking with Tenby Museum and Art Gallery and the Darwin Centre to showcase their efforts.
The litter pick followed a trip to St. Catherine’s Island and fort after they were invited as guests of manager John Loring.
The adventure began at the bottom of the island with a beautiful climb up to the battlement where the group were given an introduction to the Fort and given time to take in the views and imagine the history that had taken place.
Next over the bridge and up to the granite doorway of the fort, the group were given a fantastic talk on the history of the fort, the occupants, the changes of the building and so much more.
Tudor Thomas, who is chairman of Tenby Civic Society, led the talk which was really engaging and was happy to answer any questions the young people had.
Members were given the opportunity to freely look around the fort and take notes and draw pictures, which will be used to create a display of their visit.
