Following guidance from the Welsh Government and going through a stringent approval process with the Sea Cadets HQ and Ministry of Defence, Tenby Sea Cadets have been allowed to return to outdoor activities.
Since the middle of March, Tenby Sea Cadets and Milford Haven Sea Cadets have been working collaboratively in delivering a virtual Sea Cadets, which saw successful completion of qualifications and training.
However, last week they saw their first outdoor parade night, whilst Sea Cadet Units in Wales await further guidance on being able to return indoors.
This does mean that normal routine and times has been changed to suit the challenges but the first night saw a great return from existing cadets and some new ones who joined, virtually, through the lockdown.
Lieutenant (SCC) William Elliott RNR, Commanding Officer commented: “I am delighted to be able to see the return of some activity to Tenby Sea Cadets, whilst not quite the same, we are overcoming the challenges.
“We remain COVID19 Secure and hope that all involved with us support the continuation of cadet training and staying safe through this unknown time.
“Thank you to the Adult Volunteers and our Management Team of Trustees for their continuing support through all of this.”
??He also added: “It would also be remiss of me to say that we are welcoming new cadets and adult volunteers who are interested in joining. Feel free to make contact through the below information and follow us on Facebook.”
If you are interested in joining Sea Cadets, aged 9 – 12 for Juniors or 12 – 18 years of age or wish to volunteer for over 18s, then visit: facebook.com/tenbyscc or email [email protected]
