A Tenby mum will be looking to sprinkle some seaside magic into the mix when she takes part in popular TV show ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
Thirty-five-year-old Michelle Evans- Fecci is hoping she can impress the judges and be crowned this year's winner when the programme returns to Channel 4 on Tuesday (August 27).
Michelle who works alongside her husband Ben as a print shop administrator at his Tenby based company Trade Canvas Print, says she first fell in love with baking as a child, watching her mother bake, and now bakes almost every other day, with a penchant for experimenting with flavour combinations, using seasonal vegetables from her own vegetable patch.
She explained that her bakes are often created with good-quality, local produce and made with precision.
After applying for the Great British Bake Off in 2015, and getting down to the final 50 from 13,000 applicants, Michelle admits that she was in floods of tears when she discovered she would be participating this year as she has dreamt of appearing on the show for ages.
“I was so emotional when I found out, I cry when I am happy and cry when I am sad. I have wanted it for so long, so I couldn’t believe it!,” she remarked.
Locally, Michelle’s passion for baking, has raised a lot of money for Macmillan Cancer Support, by selling cakes at coffee mornings and fundraising events she has organised.
The new series featuring presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig and judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith kicks off on Channel 4 at 8 pm, on August 27, and is expected to run for 10 consecutive weeks, with the final likely to take place in November.
