After an extensive training session on CPR and the use of the machine to 12 choristers and partners, we felt suitably capable of using the machine and applying CPR should the need ever arise.
The portable device will travel wherever the choir goes. In the event of a casualty in the choir or audience when we are performing, the machine and a trained chorister will be on hand to help and offer assistance. When on tour the AED will travel with us and when, throughout the winter, we rehearse twice a week, the AED will live with us in the Tenby County Club.
The photo shows choir chairman David Blackmore and chorister David Stewart-Walvin, who organised the project, taking delivery of the machine from Tony Wall of Tenby and Saundersfoot First Responders. Further details can be found at www.tenby-saundersfootfirstresponders.co.uk.
Tenby Male Choir consists of 40+ local men across a wide age spectrum who give their time freely in helping to raise valuable funds for national and local charities and good causes.
As well as enjoying the satisfaction of learning and rehearsing new songs, the buzz that choristers get from performing these in public has to be experienced.
The well earned beer afterwards, simply soothes the throat!
If any gentleman of any age wants to give it a try, contact us via our website www.tenbymalechoir.org
There is no need for the ability to read music or speak Welsh, although it does help. You don’t even need to have a virtuoso Male Voice. All you need is the ability to sing a ‘tidy’ note and blend in with others around you.
If you are a representative of a local charity or good cause and feel that the choir could help in your fundraising activities, drop a line to secretary Terry Evans and your application will be given due consideration by the choir committee. As a choir we are also available for private hire for weddings, special occasions and parties.
The choir will travel to Shrewsbury on Friday, October 5 where we will perform with Shrewsbury Police Male Voice Choir to raise money for the canal restoration scheme.
