This summer, a Tenby couple will be taking on a middle distance triathlon to raise funds for a severely disabled little boy.
Troy Purslowe and Naomi Pattinson have entered the Cotswolds triathlon event to help create a sensory room for a special and brave little trooper called Jack in his home.
Jack, who lives in Bristol and is a family friend of the couple, has Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS), a rare syndrome that can effect someone in many different ways.
Although happy, Jack suffers from Gastro reflex issues which has seen him hospitalised multiple times. He for a CdLS child is actually quite large, but at three-years-old weighs a third less than a normal child.
Jack has delayed development and currently cannot speak or walk which presents multiple issues. Inherent with the syndrome comes the vast array of health issues that he is likely to face in the future.
“This summer, Troy and I have entered a middle distance triathlon which will consist of a 1.2 mile swim (1.92km), 56 mile bike (90km bike) and a 13.1 mile run (half marathon) - and considering we only bought a bike and started swimming last summer it will be a huge challenge for us both; however, raising money for Jack is the biggest motivation that we need” said Naomi.
“Jack is a lovely caring little boy and, although he has his struggles, is loved by everyone and has the biggest of hearts.
“It will make all the cold and dark 5 am winter training sessions worth it if we can make a difference to this little trooper and his very special family.
“We would really appreciate your support in helping us raise some much deserved money to go towards creating a sensory room for Jack in his home,” she added.
