Last month at St Mary’s Church the Tenby branch of Save the Children held a ‘Centenary Concert’ in celebration of 100 years of the founding of this charity.

Local schools took part together with Tenby Male Choir joining in the celebrations which raised nearly £500 for the cause.

The concert opened with three beautiful songs sung by the choir of St Mary’s Church, under the conductor of Mark Thompson, one included the theme from The Vicar of Dibley - The Lord is My Shepherd.

There was a warm welcome return to Choir Secretary – Terry Evans, who had recently been to Buckingham Palace to attend the Queen’s Garden Party and lots of enjoyment when the Choir performed My Grandfather’s Clock. The children loved taking part and joining in with all the actions.

Tenby Male Choir finished off the concert in fine voice with a rendition of Hallelujah, Bring Him Home and Climb Every Mountain.

It was indeed a special evening raising money for the Save the Children plus bringing together four generations of the Hilling family of which two are members of the choir.
