Fun and games in the sweltering heat of Friday, July 19, were the order of the day for service users and staff at Bangeston Hall, midway between Tenby and Pembroke Dock, who were joined for the occasion by folk from the two other two sites within the group, Rosendale at Lydstep and Stockwell, Pembroke Dock.
Service users from each campus gathered in the spacious grounds of Bangeston Hall to enjoy an afternoon of music provided by Wings over Pembrokeshire, Owl displays by Pembroke Dock Raptors, a dance display by the organisations very own dance troop, and an amazing synchronised bicycling display by service user Paul and staff member, Lewis! Prize-giving and wonderfully cooling water sports completed the afternoon's package!
This year's annual event had a very special flavour as it marked 10 years since the group, collectively known as 'Pembrokeshire Resource Centre' for adults with autism, was formed by Mr. Steve Jones.
Today, the three sites offer residential and lifelong learning opportunities for adults with autism from Pembrokeshire, as well as much further afield, including Gibraltar, government representatives of which visited Bangeston Hall and the other sites earlier in the week.
A special 10th anniversary cake was baked by head chef Rob, who together with Loretta, provide magnificent summer foods for the occasion which took on something of a 'summer garden party'.
Central to the occasion was a giant 10-piece jigsaw puzzle made by service users and depicting life at Bangeston, Rosendale and Stockwell. Pieces of the jigsaw were carried in a grand opening procession before being assembled on a platform in front of Bangeston Hall.
Sheila Jack, manager and director of care, welcomed all, thanking staff and service users, past and present, for being part of and helping to create the Pembrokeshire Resource Centre story.
David Gleed,
Head of Day Services
