The local branch managed to raise over £400 thanks to kind donations from residents in and around Narberth. The coffee morning had fresh tea, coffee and cakes for sale, including an exciting tombola on which you won every time! Narberth Town Mayor, Clr. Christopher Walters, was also on hand to reveal the results of the raffle.
In late October of 2019, branch chairman Mr. Ralph Dunbar retired after many years of service. Following his retirement, the branch quickly appointed a new chairman and committee and today is headed up by Mrs. Linda Walters who is one of the original longest serving committee members.
Linda, who joined the committee upon its creation, said “I would like to thank Ralph for his many years of fundraising for the Narberth branch and I welcome all new members to the British Heart Foundation.
“Heart and circulatory diseases, like coronary heart disease, stroke or vascular dementia, affect millions of people in the UK and is still one of the biggest killers - every single committee member part of the Narberth branch has been affected by this in one way or another.
“This year The Narberth branch celebrates over 36 successful years fundraising and we look forward to continuing our fundraising efforts throughout the year. Our next being on Sunday, April 26 - Our ‘Wild West Car Treasure Hunt’ from the Narberth Social Club. We encourage everyone to keep an eye on the paper and online for further details. I would also like to take this opportunity to also thank everyone who came to support our New Year’s Eve fundraiser which again raised over £350-plus”
Fundraiser Mrs. Julie Phillips, whose dad was the founding member of the Narberth branch, also said: “If there is anyone who is interested in fundraising for the British Heart Foundation or would like to make a Donation then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
To get involved, have a donation or perhaps have a fundraising event going which you would like the branch to support, then please contact Mrs. Linda Walters - branch manager, Narberth British Heart Foundation - 01834 862 779.
