On a beautiful sunny day last week, 48 of the St. Mary’s Church children and youth and a little dog called Bliss thoroughly enjoyed their annual fun pilgrimage and sandcastle/sculpture competition on Caldey Island.
After mindfully taking over 100 prayer requests from the church congregation and visitors up to the calvary cross and then leaving them with the monks, both the young and slightly older eagerly completed their fun pilgrimage quizzes around the island all prepared by Nan, their leader. After sampling the Caldey fudge as a reward and a leisurely lunch, they ventured off to work hard on their sandcastles and sand sculptures which were independently judged by visitors on Caldey.
All winners decided that the Clarice’s toy vouchers were well-earned, with Ellie and Melanie taking first place with ‘Love is all around us’ sculptures, and a special mention to Katie and Emily who made an almost perfect Old Priory model completely out of sand.
Sundayfunday club and CYC Youth club return in September, Sunday 10th at 10 am and Monday 11th at 6 pm, when the new school term starts.
