The committee of East Williamston Community and Hall Association was so delighted with the response to its Valentine's Evening that it decided to hold another social occasion to mark St. David's Day.

The hall was suitably decorated with Welsh flags, tables with daffodils and dragon motifs and the bar with subdued lighting.

All now awaited the arrival of villagers and friends.

Luckily there was the same enthusiastic response as to the previous function and some 50 people came to share a very convivial social evening.

The meal offered a choice of lamb or ham cawl or butternut squash soup, with newly baked rolls and cheese, followed by bara brith and Welsh cakes.

Some people had a taste of everything on offer! The bar did a roaring trade and a raffle enlivened the evening, with a wide choice of interesting prizes, including a bunch of locally grown monster leeks.

Everyone partied until closing time and agreed it had been a most enjoyable occasion, bringing neighbours together in a very pleasant way.

The next event in the hall is the monthly 'Quiz Evening' tomorrow (Saturday).

This time the question-setters are 'The Golden Girls', always original in the rounds they devise, and entry is still only £2 per person.

Doors and bar open at 7.30 pm, quiz begins at 8 pm and all are most welcome to come and join in the fun.

There will be a raffle, either during the interval or while the scores are checked at the end and, as always, the quiz winners will receive a cash prize.

The Friends of Jubilee Park are holding the usual two hours of park maintenance on the morning of the same day, with hedge-laying, tree staking and path repairs on the agenda.

Anyone interested in lending a hand is most welcome to come along at 10 am and see what is going on - the more the merrier, but old clothes, sturdy boots and thorn-proof gloves are always advised!
