A special party was held at Tenby Day Centre this week to help Mrs. Jean Hooper celebrate her 104th birthday.
Along with other members of the Day Centre, and family and friends, among her visitors was the chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, Clr. Tony Brinsden, Tenby county councillor for the North Ward Clr. Michael Williams, Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Laurence Blackhall, the chairman of the South East Pembrokeshire Community Health Network, Mr. Mansel Thomas, and PCC’s customer services manager for social care and housing Sue Thomson.
Born in London on March 21, 1913, Jean helped her father run a guest house until they were bombed out of their home in the Second World War.
Jean moved to Saundersfoot in 1997 with her husband Wally, to be nearer her daughter Hazel, throwing herself into community life - including joining the local WI.
After Wally’s death in 2000 Jean continued to take an active role in village life - including becoming a regular attender at Tenby Day Centre.
