Sir,
Here’s a neat idea for increasing Tenby’s parking capacity by up to 50 per cent. Will it cost millions? No, just a few buckets of white paint.
Tenby dwellers are blessed with many sterling qualities, but we’re never going to win any prizes for our parking skills. See a roadside space big enough for two cars and we have an uncontrollable urge to park slap bang in the middle of it, turning two available spaces into one. Multiply that across all the other streets and you have an almighty waste of space.
Why intelligent and courteous parking should be such a challenge is a mystery, but perhaps it would go some way towards solving the problem if all the roadside bays - resident and non-resident - were marked out as individual bays. If they were properly monitored (a big if, I know), this could give us a lot more parking space, a way of being kind to our neighbours, and a nice warm feeling in the cockles of our hearts.
Keith Clarke,
Tenby.
