Sir,

While I appreciate that the Ironman competition is a great success for Tenby in particular and Pembrokeshire in general, I am sure feedback is welcome, whether it be good or in this case bad.

I live in the first house at The Glebe in Tenby next to the electricity substation and, while standing in my garden supporting the runners passing my house, I was aware of how many men were going into the area of the substation to relieve themselves in full view of me and passers-by with children.

This isn’t the first time this has happened, but at least one female runner asked if we had a toilet she could use as she must have been desperate.

This has made me think of what toilet provision is provided for all this extra influx of people that visit Tenby for this event.

So many people walk between Tenby and Saundersfoot during the racing, but where do they go if they need the toilet? In the hedges and driveways it seems, which isn’t acceptable.

I must be honest that I don’t leave the house on Ironman day, so I don’t know if provision is made, but as it seems not, it may be a thought for any similar events in the future.

Now I shall go and hose down around the substation as it is very unpleasant to go past it.

Alyson Bush,

The Glebe.

Tenby.
