A soldier was injured during a live firing exercise on Castlemartin Ranges shortly before midnight on Wednesday.

He was stabilised by army medics and taken to Withybush General Hospital by civilian ambulance where he underwent treatment for a gunshot wound.

He has since been transferred to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

An Army spokesman said: "The cause of the incident is currently under investigation by the Royal Military Police and the Army's accident investigation team.

"No further information will be released at this time."
