Skateboarding enthusiasts asking if their facility in Tenby could be extended could have their wish come true.

The town clerk, Andrew Davies, told members of the town council at their meeting on Tuesday night that he had met with a representative from a leisure firm to look at design options available at the skateboard park which sits alongside Tenby’s Jubilee play area, overlooking the South Beach, to see what was achievable.

“Some ideas were floated around and the option of extending the skate park is certainly doable,” he said.

However, any project could be several months away he explained, due to a project where pavements and pathways alongside the park are being relayed.

He also explained that the swing basket of the play park may need to be relocated to acquire space for any potential extension.

“We’d have to look at rough costings and come up with something, before holding a meeting with the youngsters for potential design ideas,” continued Mr. Davies.

Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas said that she knew a lot of the youngsters that used the skate park were looking into holding a ‘skate jam’ event to raise funds for any extension work.

“They’re very enthusiastic and the skate jam would offer prizes to those that enter and win,” she said.

Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown said that the town council would support the youngsters with posters and promotion for their planned ‘skate jam’ event.
