Six Strollers successfully avoided the post Christmas sales, and walked from the Glen Beach to St Issell’s via footpaths and byways behind Saundersfoot.
The weather was fine and mild, with only one section of the route through ankle deep mud! The group’s illustrious Stroller in chief, Lyn, and her son Tom, joined the group at St Issell’s and all walked back into Saundersfoot via Coppet Hall.
As well as enjoying the walk, there was an insight into the industrial archaeology of Saundersfoot - as walkers passed by the Brake House at the top of the incline and went along the ‘Black Walk’ from St Issell’s towards the beach at Coppet.
They also looked at the cast iron headstones in St Issell’s churchyard - produced over 100 years ago by the Woodside foundry at Wiseman’s Bridge.
Afterwards walkers were joined by recovering and otherwise engaged Strollers for a tasty lunch at Little and Large.
