To follow up on the previous article referring to the support given by Saundersfoot Rotary to the Pembrokeshire Foodbank, the club would like to give a big thank you to those readers who donated much needed food for the club to take to the foodbank.
There are special thanks to those readers who made cash donations and President-Elect John Walker-Smith visited the foodbank in Narberth on Wednesday, October 14, to present a ‘large’ cheque to Theri Bailey, the manager at Pembrokeshire Foodbank. They are going to use the money specifically for their ‘Christmas Food Bag Project’. It’s going to be a busy Christmas for them this year across the whole county, providing many families with much needed food and, hopefully, a little seasonal cheer during a particularly difficult time.
The food seen on the table behind Theri and John in the photo is for the foodshare initiative, where perishable food that is getting close to its best before date, donated by local shops, gets a second lease of life and put to good use.
The collection by members of Saundersfoot Rotary, and also members of Tenby Inner Wheel, still goes on once a month. If readers wish to donate food, or sweets and treats for families with children as we head for Christmas, however large or small an amount, members will be happy to collect your contribution. Now that we know about the ‘Firebreak’ in Wales, there won’t be any collections until after November 9 at the earliest.
If you can help in any way, please contact club secretary, Brian Waters, on 01834 813665.
Saundersfoot Rotary are keen to find volunteers who can help with projects from time to time, so if you have time available, or have a project you would like help with, please also contact Brian as above.
