Every year a Remembrance Day Service is held throughout the United Kingdom to commemorate the service men and women who gave their lives to keep the World free from tyranny.

This year the service and laying of wreaths will take place all around the UK on Sunday, November 14.

In Saundersfoot, local organisations will meet at the War Memorial near St. Issells Church to lay wreaths and hold a short service in memory of our own local departed service heroes.

Saundersfoot Rotary are proud to be invited to take part in this annual ceremony and many members will wear a specially commissioned lapel pin badge celebrating that ‘Rotary Remembers’ whilst the Club’s president lays a wreath alongside all the others.

These badges were bought from another Rotary Club based in Essex, who have been selling them to clubs across the UK for a number of years.

Each year a new badge is designed and made to celebrate a special event. This year it celebrates 100 years to mark the anniversary of the Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland and to remember those who have suffered in conflict and made the ultimate sacrifice serving our nation.

“During the past five years a staggering £62,000 has been raised and donated to the British Royal Legion from the sale of these badges. We are honoured to be part of this important and worthwhile initiative,” said Brian Jenkins secretary of Saundersfoot Rotary Club.

Please note, the Club welcomes new members of all genders.
