The Saundersfoot Connect Facebook group is now over three weeks old with 1,800-plus members. It is proving very popular with the locals and with people further afield who either have family/friends in the area or who are regular visitors and missing the village. For example, message from one of our members ‘Thank you so much to whoever it is on... Connect who’s doing the shopping for my grandma. We can’t get to her to help and were so relieved to find out the community is supporting her’.
• New look Harper’s News - a summary of news as reported by three local papers. https://www.facebook.com/groups/saundersfootconnect/permalink/326696064972209/
• The admin team (Sarah Whiddett, Sara Hicks, Ladan Harper and Jackie Taylor) are encouraging local businesses to contribute to the page while they’re shut down. This week there is a new feature by Julie Elston of Muddy Paws Doggy Spa - hints and tips for looking after our canine pals during the lockdown (the full post, pictures and comments are in the local business section via this link) https://www.facebook.com/groups/310153056626510/post_tags/?post_tag_id=317314419243707
• On Sunday there was an online Easter Bonnet parade. Encouraging people to make bonnets from whatever they could find at home, there was a wide range of entries. The winners receive a limited edition Crabtastic medal. Betsy Heywood won the children’s category, Ladan Harper the adult category.
• Foodie Friday - a new feature has started called Foodie Fridays. It will include a recipe from a local chef (this week was a recipe by Mark at The Stone Crab – Smoked Mackerel and Lime Chilli Pate), food hacks (like how to make self-raising flour if you only have plain) and the popular ‘What’s for Dinner’ slot.
• Emma Price is compiling a Digital Scrapbook to capture village memories through this unprecedented time. Emma is creating a weekly Video Diary; an opportunity to send a picture message to your family, a neighbour who may be on their own or a funny photo to a friend to cheer them up - or some interesting pictures of how you’re keeping busy, e.g. learning a new hobby. If you live in Saundersfoot and would like to be included, send your photographs with your name to Emma Price [email protected] by 4 pm on Saturday afternoon for inclusion in the next day’s montage. https://www.facebook.com/events/627628307968874/
