On Saturday last at St Andrew’s, the annual summer fête and teddy bear parachuting had a flying start with a sunny afternoon. The church was filled with both young and older visitors who browsed the cake stall, tombola and bric à brac stall, enjoyed refreshments and, for some, watched as their teddy (or other stuffed animal) was launched from the height of the church tower. Wind conditions were favourable and all participants landed safely to receive a Certificate of Courage, with the winner also receiving a small trophy.

The Rector, Martin Cox, thanked all those who attended or contributed generously and also those who worked hard to set up and help to run the afternoon. The main raffle was drawn as the fête came to a close and prize-winners were: 1. Geoffrey Sinclair; 2. Becca Claydon; 3. V. Morse, with another 22 prizes also won.

The afternoon was a great success as an enjoyable afternoon when we welcomed not only regular friends, but also many newcomers; it generated too over £1,000 for church funds and towards the church restoration project.
