Sir,
I was saddened to hear that six members of Tenby Male Choir received parking fines last Tuesday evening for parking outside the County Club on the Croft, where they rehearse every Tuesday and Thursday between 8 and 9.30 pm.
The choir is an excellent ambassador for Tenby and raises tens of thousands of pounds every year for local and national charities. Anyone who lives in or near Tenby knows this.
I have always understood that the (parking) traffic wardens worked from approx 9 to 5, occasionally working ’til 7.30 pm, but obviously someone called them out last Tuesday, after normal hours, specifically to target the men parked outside the club.
Many members of the choir travel in from the villages outside Tenby, giving up a huge amount of their free time to rehearse and give concerts for the benefit of the local community. I would hate to think that they may now re-think their membership of the choir.
Surely, the traffic warden could have gone in to the club and asked them to move their cars, rather than fine them ‘en masse.’
Mrs. M. Neate,
North Cliff,
Tenby.
