Two long-serving volunteers at Angle lifeboat station have been honoured with operational awards by the RNLI.
Frank Penfold, Deputy Launching Authority (25 year badge), and Ted Goddard, press officer (Silver Statuette), received their awards from RNLI Training Divisional Inspector Andy Hurley at a surprise presentation ceremony at the station recently.
Frank joined the RNLI at Angle in 1987 and served as a crew member in the Tyne class lifeboat The Lady Rank up to 2004, when he became a member of the shore crew. He has served at the station with three coxswains – the late Gerald 'Farmer' Edwards, Jerry Rees and now Andy Elliot.
Ted, former deputy editor of the Western Telegraph, has been volunteer press officer at Angle for over 10 years, succeeding another local journalist, the late Ethel Clark, West Wales Guardian, in the post. He is also a member of the editorial team for the RNLI's Compass publication for Wales, West Midlands and the Isle of Man.
