Local councillors are awaiting a report from a ‘finance seminar’ held this week where Pembrokeshire County Council’s cabinet were due to discuss matters relating to the future of Tenby’s Tourist Information Centre as one of a number of services being reviewed under their ‘transformation agenda’.

Councillors recently asked for an urgent follow up on discussions regarding the town’s TIC which has been earmarked for potential closure by the authority along with other Customer Services Centres in Pembrokeshire under review, to ascertain how they can help in any way to protect the facility’s future.

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, the town clerk, Andrew Davies, said that the cabinet were due to set out their final recommendations for the budget at the meeting at County Hall, therefore he hoped that further news on the TIC was imminent.

He told councillors that it had been indicated to one of PCC’s heads of service, Paul Ashley-Jones, that the town council would like to see the TIC maintained, preferably with PCC funding the facility, but that the town council had indicated that they were willing to be part of any discussions going forward on its future funding.

“I hope they don’t take that as us wanting to fund it!” commented the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane.
