Sir,
I should like to take this opportunity to wish the Eastend Flyover Company every success in their Roald Dahl celebration in Tenby this weekend.
I’ve enjoyed several of their productions, but what really struck me in this instance is that, almost three months ago, their chairman, Angharad Scourfield, wrote a letter addressed to me personally, and using a proper stamp, to explain exactly what they proposed doing in the vicinity of my house, apologise in advance for any inconvenience, and invite me to contact her for a chat should I have any concerns.
I found this a most refreshing change from most such activities which take place around here, where one is either taken completely by surprise, or warned by an impersonal ‘Dear Householder’ letter, hand-delivered or mass-franked, full of minatory ‘do not’ pronouncements.
Should their acting match up to their politeness and good PR, as I’m confident it will, then we are in for a real treat on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Trisha Putwain,
Tenby.
