A project aimed at helping pupils move from primary to secondary school has been held for a second time this year.

The Ready, Steady Go, project was held over two days at the Pembroke Dock Youth and Community Centre last week.

Over 80 Year 6 pupils attended the event, which was organised by the county council's Flying Start Children and Youth Action team.

It followed a successful one-day pilot project last year.

"Moving on up to the big school can be a huge step for some Year 6 pupils as they prepare for the next transition in their lives," said Damian Golden, project co-ordinator.

"In order to assist them further - and to complement the excellent work already being undertaken by primary schools - the Ready Steady Go project was created to assist them on their journey."

Over the two days of this year's project, the children were offered opportunities to prepare themselves for their move through a mixture of fun, informative workshops, time to talk with supportive adults and Year 7 pupils and develop friendships with other children.
