As part of his annual St. David's Day visit to Wales, Prince Charles dropped into Castlemartin last Friday, where he met with members of the Queen's Dragoon Guards - known as The Welsh Cavalry.

The Prince of Wales, colonel-in-chief of the regiment, visited the live firing range complex at Castlemartin where he watched soldiers train on home soil as part of Exercise Pashtun Tempest, the bespoke training package for soldiers due to deploy to Helman Province, Afghanistan.

Soldiers demonstrated techniques used to counter the threat posed by IEDs using detection equipment, including metal detectors and ground penetrating radars.

With St. David's Day falling on a Saturday, The Prince undertook his engagements on Friday, when he went on to Llanelly House, in Llanelli, to view the early 18th century Georgian town house which was at risk of dereliction, and meet the people behind the refurbished Old Town Hall in Merthyr Tydfil.
