President of the Tenby branch of the Royal British Legion, Gordon Prime, was delighted to have been honoured at the Lord Lieutenant Poppy Appeal Cadet Awards for South West Wales presentation night, held in Carmarthen's St. Peters Hall.
Mr. Prime, of Jameston, was presented was awarded a poppy badge and clasp for over 60 years as a poppy collector in sincere appreciation and recognition for loyal and dedicated assistance to the Poppy Appeal.
Now in his 64th year of being involved in the Poppy Appeal work, Mr. Prime said that the accolade was a real "surprise" that came out of the blue.
He also enjoyed another surprise recently when he took to the skies in a glider over the Black Mountains of Brecon as part of a combined birthday and Christmas gift from his son.
"It was a fantastic trip and a real lifetime's ambition to go up in a glider," said Mr. Prime.
