Preseli Pembrokeshire Senedd Member Paul Davies has recently met with a local autism charity called ASD Family Help to hear more about their plans for the future in Pembrokeshire.
The charity, which provides support for autistic children and their families across the county was awarded £348,900 from the National Lottery Community Fund to support it in its efforts over the next five years.
ASD Family Help will use their funding to ‘Create Strong Autism Communities in Pembrokeshire’. The project will support autistic people and their families and carers to take part in activities and events within their local communities, enabling people to come together to provide peer support and develop friendships. It will enable autistic children, young people, and adults to learn new skills in safe autism friendly environments.
Mr Davies said, “I’m absolutely delighted that ASD Family Help has received funding from the National Lottery and I congratulate Melissa and her team on the charity’s work in the community to date. Melissa and I had a really good chat about the exciting projects that she has planned for the next five years and beyond and I’m excited to see what the future has in store. This investment will make such a difference to the autism community in Pembrokeshire by helping to create more autism-friendly environments so that more and more people can better understand and support people living with autism in the area.”
