The Welsh executive committee of the Labour Party, with the support of local party members has chosen Marc Tierney to stand in the General Election on June 8.
Marc Tierney stood in last year’s National Assembly election, beating poll predictions and securing Labour as the only opposition to the Conservatives in the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire constituency.
The 37-year-old father of three lives in the heart of the West Wales constituency with his partner Sarah. His children attend schools in Whitland and Narberth.
Marc is heavily involved in the third sector, chairing both the Friends of Narberth Library and Cleddau Community Media in Pembroke Dock. He is also a trustee of the Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services.
As an active campaigner, Marc successfully set the agenda on matters of local health services, the economy and the security of our local ports during last year’s Assembly election.
Speaking of his selection to face Tory Simon Hart, Marc Tierney said: “I have already received tremendous support over the last few days with thousands watching my campaign launch video on my Facebook and Twitter pages.”
